According to the National Institutes of Health, burnout has been on the rise for years among health care workers and is associated with increased risk of job dissatisfaction, suicide, and negative patient outcomes. Resisting burnout means we need to go beyond the self-care we are normally told to perform, and to shift towards building collective care to nurture our well-being, considering cultural, spiritual, relational and community-based ways to support ourselves and our communities.
