Port Huron- Spirituality for Peers

October 29 - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
$50.00

The purpose of this program is to help you, as a Peer, understand what spirituality is and how you would help someone discover it. This two-day course will help you explore your own beliefs and values regarding spirituality. This training will provide you with the tools and resources needed as a Peer so you can speak about spirituality in an accepting way. This training is going to challenge you in a way that helps to promote your understanding of spirituality. Spirituality plays a large part in recovery and by completing this course, you will be able to help those you serve understand, accept, and embrace spirituality for themselves.

Spirituality Outcomes

  • Discuss the role of spirituality in the recovery process. Participants will learn to recognize barriers individuals may face in exploring their spirituality and develop strategies to address these challenges, fostering resilience and coping mechanisms in recovery.
  • Identify and understand their own spiritual beliefs and values, and how these may influence their peer work.
  • Develop skills to facilitate open and respectful discussions about spirituality with individuals in recovery, fostering a safe space for exploration.
  • Engage in self-care practices and strategies that nurture their own spiritual well-being. Participants will identify ways to help individuals build or connect with spiritual support networks.
  • Learn how to collaboratively integrate spiritual practices and beliefs into individualized recovery plans, enhancing holistic support.

By achieving these learning outcomes, peers will be better equipped to support those they work with in exploring and integrating spirituality into their recovery process, fostering a more holistic approach to healing.
