Crisis Through a Peer Support Lens:
Connection, Compassion, and Care

As more peer workers serve in crisis settings roles, it is vital to understand crisis through a peer lens, stay rooted in core peer support values and remain anchored in peer support competencies. This training provides information, skills, and practical applications that peer workers can use in various crisis settings.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
• Define crisis through a peer support model.
• Apply core peer support values to crisis situations.
• Practice trauma-informed responses to reduce traumatization of self and others.
• Use cultural knowledge to create connections.
• Develop communication skills to use during crisis situations.
• Support self and others after a crisis has occurred.
