Sunday, June 28, 2026: Departure, 1 p.m.

A weekend of mindfulness, holistic recovery, and sustainable peer practice.

Step away from the noise and into a weekend designed for rest, reflection, and renewal. Rooted and Renewed invites Peer professionals to slow down, reconnect with their inner resources, and strengthen sustainable practices that support both personal well-being and professional effectiveness.

Through guided meditation, gentle movement, embodied awareness, nature immersion, holistic wellness exploration, and intentional peer connection, this retreat creates space for emotional safety, shared silence, and deep listening. Participants leave with tools and practices that enhance their ability to support others while maintaining balance, boundaries, and resiliency in their peer work.

Participants will:
• Deepen self-awareness and reflection to better understand their responses and support choices when working with the people we serve.
• Build resilience and stress regulation skills to prevent burnout and maintain sustainable peer support practice.
• Learn to incorporate nature and mindful practices as tools to help peers reconnect and ground themselves.
• Practice shared silence and attentive listening to enhance peer connection and model presence without fixing or rescuing.
• Engage in Peer circles grounded in non-fixing, non-judgmental communication to strengthen relational skills and supportive community.
• Reconnect with personal and community wisdom to bring renewed energy, insight, and compassion into their peer work.

What to bring:
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for meditation and gentle movement. Bring a personal centering piece — prayer beads or a mala necklace, lava rocks with essential oils, a special stone, or any meaningful object that helps you focus and feel grounded.
Come as you are. Leave rooted in presence — and renewed for the work ahead.

Eligible for 10 Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Continuing Education credits.

Please note that a minimum of 12 participants is required for this training. If registration does not meet this minimum, the session may be canceled.

Jose Salinas is a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS), Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC), and a state of Michigan Peer trainer. With over a decade of experience in peer support, Jose has facilitated trainings in Mental Health First Aid, QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), Emotional CPR, and mindfulness-based programs for addiction recovery. He is deeply committed to helping individuals navigate recovery from substance use and mental health challenges, offering trauma-sensitive, and compassionate support rooted in lived experience.

A person in long-term recovery from addiction, mental health conditions, trauma, and poverty, Jose is passionate about sharing his story to inspire hope and healing in others. He finds strength and connection through nature, community, and his two loyal Australian Shepherds, Chiquis, and Peques—his sunrise running partners on hidden trails.
