Northern Michigan Summit- Meditation for Peers

May 13 - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
$50.00

Learn how to meditate and how to share meditation with those you serve. This training will provide you with self-care tools to develop or deepen your own meditation practice, learning to be more present, understanding the science behind the practice of meditation, and learning introductory techniques and principles for sharing meditation with those you serve. Fundamental to healing, mental health, physical health and effectiveness in life, meditation is the most effective tool in your tool kit. Debunk, demystify, simplify, and gain confidence in your own practice and in sharing this priceless tool with others.

Meditation Outcomes:

  • Gaining understanding of meditation fundamentals.
  • Opportunity to practice meditation – incorporating at least two different techniques learned during the training. Participants will recognize the importance of self-care and mindfulness practices for themselves as peers, promoting personal well-being.
  • Learn tools to integrate meditation and mindfulness into recovery and daily life.
  • Discuss ethical considerations when sharing meditation practices, including the importance of cultural sensitivity and personal boundaries.
  • Develop the skills to lead guided meditation sessions for individuals and groups, creating a calming and supportive atmosphere for meditation. Participants will identify and adapt meditation techniques to meet the diverse needs of individuals in recovery, considering factors like varying levels of experience and personal preferences.
  • Explore the role of group meditation in building community and support networks for individuals in recovery.

By achieving these learning outcomes, peers will be better equipped to effectively share meditation practices, enhancing the recovery journey for those they support.
