The Division of Substance Use, Gambling and Epidemiology is considering to fund an International Gambling Recovery Specialist (IGRS) certification training. This training program, designed specifically for individuals with lived experience in gambling recovery, provides the essential knowledge and skills needed to deliver effective peer support services. It helps peers harness their personal recovery journey, build meaningful connections, and guide others through the complexities of gambling recovery with compassion, insight, and confidence, ultimately preparing them to serve as a certified IGRS.
To attend the training, peers must have a minimum of one year of embedded recovery from gambling harm and already have the MDHHS PRC or PSS certification.
The training will be 30 hours, online and self-paced with the intent of having an online IGRS workgroup.
