Update: Virtual CE Limit Increased from 13 to 16 Hours

MDHHS has expanded the number of Continuing Education (CE) hours that Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) and Certified Peer Recovery Coaches (CPRC) may complete virtually. Peers may now earn up to 16 of the required 32 CE hours through approved online or virtual training—an increase from the previous limit of 13 hours.

This change provides greater flexibility for Michigan’s peer workforce, especially for those balancing work, family, transportation, or accessibility needs. It also aligns with the growing availability of high-quality virtual training options that support ongoing skill development and certification readiness.

Additional guidance will be shared as new training opportunities become available. If you have questions about CE requirements or training approval, please contact: MDHHS-CEPeerSupport@Michigan.gov.
