As peer support workers, we open ourselves to experiences of loss and grief. We connect with genuine compassion and therefore, when tragedy happens, we experience loss and grief. How do we integrate these experiences into our recovery journey? How do we support one another in our unique experience as a peer?
This full-day workshop will include discussions of our experiences, expressive arts, grief rituals, and support planning.
Objectives:
- Learn about the impact of loss and grief on humans.
- Learn about what helps heal grief in different people.
- Practice identifying or developing a ritual that could help process loss and grief for ourselves and people we support.
- Discuss cultural similarities and differences.
