Introduction to Mindfulness for Peers in Crisis Settings

June 4, 2024 - 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
$25.00

Training Overview:

“Just as we know that we can develop the body’s innate capacities to increase our strength, flexibility, and resiliency, we now know from neuroscience that we can develop the mind’s innate capacity to focus, see clearly, be creative, and act with compassion.” – Janice Marturano

Mindfulness is a distinct way of paying attention that enhances well-being and helps us cope with the struggles of everyday life. In this class you will experience formal mindfulness practices that train your mind for greater focus and clarity, and informal practices to integrate into your day to enhance your ability to remain calm, curious, and kind.

Some things you will learn:

  • What mindfulness is and how it can benefit you.
  • The research that supports mindfulness as a tool to reduce stress.
  • Skills to shift from reacting to responding to stress.
  • How to work with difficult thoughts and emotions.
  • Formal and informal mindfulness practices.

Scientific research has consistently demonstrated that mindfulness:

  • Reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Improves sleep.
  • Reduces symptoms of chronic illness.
  • Improves ability to experience joy and contentment.
  • Improves confidence and self-acceptance.

What’s Included:

  • Introduction to Mindfulness Participant Handbook PDF.
  • Links to audio and video practices.
