This is your opportunity to get really good at managing your emotions. \nParticipants will: \n\nStrengthen their ability to stay emotionally grounded while supporting others in crisis or distress.\nPractice recognizing emotional escalation early and responding with supportive peer-appropriate strategies.\nLearn language patterns that promote empowerment\, choice and self-efficacy in the people they support.\nDistinguish between empathy and emotional over-identification to prevent compassion fatigue.\nExplore how to use lived experience safely and effectively without becoming emotionally flooded.\nApply grounding techniques they can use personally and teach peers in real-time support situations.\n\n  \nMeet the Trainer: \nChuck Hendrix is a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS)\, Certified Life Coach\, an NLP Practitioner\, and a Board-Certified Hypnotherapist. He has been studying personal growth for more than 25 years. He is passionate about a multiple pathways approach to recovery and is deeply committed to harm reduction. DESCRIPTION:Join the 2026 Meditation Challenge for peers! Let’s spend the month beginning or deepening practice together. \nLearning objectives: \n\nBasic meditation and mindfulness practices.\nHow the brain and body chemistry change when we practice.\nHow to incorporate practice into your workday to reduce stress and support showing up with a full cup.\nSimple\, trauma-informed practices to start your session with—centering for both you and your participant.\n\nNote: Follow-up sessions will be held on Fridays in February from noon to 1 p.m. for accountability\, Q&A\, and continued support as you implement these practices. Join us for a session of discovery and connection. \nTraining Objectives: \n\nBetter understand many different groups that support multiple pathways.\nLearn about the history of mutual aid groups.\nSelf-discover all the pathways you have used to support your recovery.\nBe able to help the people you serve build a roadmap of their own unique recovery pathway.\n\nTrainers: \nAndrew Brown (LLMSW\, CPRC\, CPRM) is a clinical social worker\, recovery coach\, and person in long-term recovery. He is passionate about a multiple pathways approach to recovery and is deeply committed to harm reduction. Andrew is also dedicated to expanding and improving services to ensure that resources are inclusive and accessible for all individuals seeking help for substance-related issues. \nPriscilla Shafor (BS\, CADC\, CPRC\, CPRM\, RCPF) is a person in long-term recovery with over 20 years of experience working with individuals impacted by substance use disorders and involvement in the justice system. Her work focuses on expanding access to recovery support and empowering people to make informed choices about their recovery paths. \nShe is a contracted trainer with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)\, providing continuing education for Peer Recovery Coaches. Priscilla also holds the Recovery Coach Professional Facilitator (RCPF) designation through the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR)\, authorizing her to facilitate all (CCAR) curricula. \nHer facilitation style blends lived experience with professional expertise and is grounded in a deep commitment to recovery-oriented systems of care. \nEligible for 4 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. For others\, it’s about who is missing at the holiday get together. Dealing with Grief and Loss Around the Holidays\, will help individuals who are struggling with their own grief and loss as well as give them tools to help others who are Dealing with Grief and Loss around the Holidays. \nParticipants will:\n• Figure out what keeps them stuck in their grief cycle\, and how to get out of it.\n• See a brighter future that honors the memory of their loved one.\n• Hear questions that can be asked to help people deal with their grief and loss around the holidays.\n• Look at using sub modalities to process holiday grief easily and effortlessly.\n• Discover ways to use the “Swish Pattern” to turn “sad holiday memories” into “happy ones.”\n• Listen to the language patterns that cause them more pain and learn how to release it now. \nAbout the Trainer:\nChuck Hendrix is a Certified Peer Support Specialist\, Certified Life Coach\, and NLP Practitioner\, and a Board-Certified Hypnotherapist.
