DESCRIPTION:*Please note: This training will run September 2nd 1-5 p.m. EST and September 3rd 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST.* \nPeer providers are frequently asked to lead support groups\, team meetings\, committees\, and various spaces. Refresh and enhance your skills in this two-day workshop. We will share and learn effective tools and strategies for facilitating from each other. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nEnhanced confidence with facilitating.\nBoost your skills with tips and strategies to add to your facilitation repertoire.\nShowcase learned skills through live facilitation demonstration.\n\nPresented by: \nTamra Oman is a national speaker\, consultant\, and group facilitator. She believes deeply in cultivating a culture of hope\, healing\, and compassion for all. She was the first “peer/consumer” to be hired in the state of Wisconsin to work in a correctional facility. Ms. Oman uses humor and compassion to connect with her audience. She brings a unique perspective based on her own personal and professional experiences.\nPaula Buege is a fierce advocate for rights and dignity for people to make their own decisions. Currently she works directly with individuals and families who have children experiencing social/emotional/mental health and substance use challenges. She infuses her lived experience into\nher trainings and daily work. \nEligible for 10.25 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. This is a virtual training. DESCRIPTION:Learn how to meditate and how to share meditation with those you serve. This training will provide you with self-care tools to develop or deepen your own meditation practice\, learning to be more present\, understanding the science behind the practice of meditation\, and learning introductory techniques and principles for sharing meditation with those you serve. Fundamental to healing\, mental health\, physical health and effectiveness in life\, meditation is the most effective tool in your tool kit. Debunk\, demystify\, simplify\, and gain confidence in your own practice and in sharing this priceless tool with others. \nMeditation Outcomes: \n\nGaining understanding of meditation fundamentals.\nOpportunity to practice meditation – incorporating at least two different techniques learned during the training. Participants will recognize the importance of self-care and mindfulness practices for themselves as peers\, promoting personal well-being.\nLearn tools to integrate meditation and mindfulness into recovery and daily life.\nDiscuss ethical considerations when sharing meditation practices\, including the importance of cultural sensitivity and personal boundaries.\nDevelop the skills to lead guided meditation sessions for individuals and groups\, creating a calming and supportive atmosphere for meditation. Participants will identify and adapt meditation techniques to meet the diverse needs of individuals in recovery\, considering factors like varying levels of experience and personal preferences.\nExplore the role of group meditation in building community and support networks for individuals in recovery.\n\nBy achieving these learning outcomes\, peers will be better equipped to effectively share meditation practices\, enhancing the recovery journey for those they support. \nPresented by: \nRodasi Campbell\, CPRC\, RCPF\, ERYT\, is a woman on the path of discovery in recovery from substances\, mental health\, relationships\, and the mind. With over a decade of experience in Peer Support\, Jose has facilitated trainings in Mental Health First Aid\, QPR (Question\, Persuade\, Refer)\, Emotional CPR\, and mindfulness-based programs for addiction recovery. He is deeply committed to helping individuals navigate recovery from substance use and mental health challenges\, offering trauma-sensitive\, compassionate support rooted in lived experience. \nA person in long-term recovery from addiction\, mental health conditions\, trauma\, and poverty\, Jose is passionate about sharing his story to inspire hope and healing in others.
