SUMMARY:Challenging Relationships & Caregiver Fatigue Tools for Peers in Crisis Settings
DESCRIPTION:The struggle we feel in relationships is universal. When we experience conflict with those that are closest to us\, family\, friends\, and even colleagues\, it is painful. In these situations\, we often feel anger\, resentment\, and emotional avoidance. We refer to this as the pain of disconnection. \nThe other type of anguish we experience is due to the deep connections we have with those who are suffering. This often occurs in caregiving situations. We are hardwired to connect\, cooperate\, and nurture one another. This makes our lives rich and rewarding but can also make us vulnerable to the empathic distress of feeling the suffering of others as our own. We refer to this as the pain of connection. \nMindfulness and self-compassion skills can help us work with both forms of pain. \nIn this class you will learn to: \n\nLook at challenging relationships in a new light.\nUnderstand and overcome underlying emotions and unmet needs that lead to suffering.\nSee how empathic distress affects us.\nSee caregiving fatigue as a natural part of being human.\nFind equanimity and compassion in caregiving relationships.\n\nWhat’s included: \n\nChallenging Relationships & Caregiver Fatigue Handbook PDF.\nLinks to meditations & practices to support you on this journey.\n\nCarol Hendershot\, RYT 500\nCertified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Instructor\nCo-Founder\, Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness \nCarol has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2008 and Mindful Self-Compassion classes since 2014. Her classes emphasize safety and self-honoring as she guides students to build resilience and strengthen their mindfulness and compassion skills. \nGrandrapidscenterformindfulness.com – carolhendershot@gmail.com – 616-745-1864 \nEligible for 6 MDHHS Continuing Education credits.
