DESCRIPTION:SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training) teaches self-empowerment based on scientific principles and evidence. The recovery program helps people overcome all forms of addictive behaviors. This includes those involving\, alcohol\, drugs\, gambling\, shopping\, sex\, and pornography. \nUpon completion of this three-day virtual program\, you will be able to: \n\nExpress confidence to start and facilitate a SMART Recovery meeting.\nDemonstrate basic knowledge of the SMART Recovery program and related tools.\nDemonstrate knowledge of how the concepts\, strategies\, and tools support addiction recovery in a support group setting.\nDemonstrate basic facilitation skills as used in a SMART Recovery support group.\nExpress confidence about starting and facilitating a Family & Friends meeting.\nDemonstrate basic knowledge of SMART Recovery Family & Friends program and related tools.\nDemonstrate knowledge of how concepts\, strategies and tools support recovery for Family & Friends.\n\nTraining Benefits: \n\nHighly interactive training\, including multiple role-plays of practical meeting scenarios.\nLive demonstrations of the tools used in SMART meetings.\nHelpful discussions involving the content of our SMART Recovery handbooks and manuals.\nDiscussions of CBT\, REBT\, Motivational Interviewing and other SMART Recovery concepts\nQuestion & Answer sessions to ensure understanding.\nTraining is completed in three days\, providing the ability to facilitate a SMART meeting and/or use the SMART tools and techniques with clients immediately following the training.\nBreakout groups provide the opportunity for your team to brainstorm ways to incorporate SMART Recovery into your organization.\n\nEligible for 19.5 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. This is a virtual training. He is also a trainer for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Peer Recovery Coach Curriculum. He is very passionate about a multiple pathways approach to recovery and dedicated to the concept of harm reduction for persons struggling with substance use disorders. \nPriscilla Shafor (BS\, CADC\, CPRM\, CPRC) is a person in long-term recovery. She is a trainer for the MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach Curriculum\, a Core Recovery Coach Academy and Ethics Trainer for Connecticut Community of Addiction Recovery (CCAR).
