SUMMARY:RAM Center (Higgins Lake)- Not Every Storm Is a Crisis: Exploring the Difference
DESCRIPTION:This practical\, skills-focused session explores the difference between distress and crisis and why recognizing that difference matters. Participants will use the Ethics and Boundaries framework to practice responding to real-world situations with confidence and clarity. Through discussion and hands-on activities\, they’ll learn how to stay grounded\, respond within their role\, and know when additional support is needed. \nObjectives \n\nParticipants will practice recognizing the difference between distress and imminent risk using real-world language and examples from the Ethics and Boundaries framework (focus on understanding meaning\, timing\, and urgency\, not assessment).\nParticipants will practice Ethics and Boundaries response skills\, including grounding\, curiosity\, and containment\, to stay calm\, focused\, and within their role during challenging situations (concrete practice: slowing down\, exploring meaning\, responding without panic).\nParticipants will practice choosing appropriate next steps for both distress and crisis situations\, including when to pause\, when to seek additional support\, and how to maintain a supportive relationship (practical skills that reflect what peers do in real-world situations).\n\nTrainers: \nTamra Oman is a national speaker\, consultant\, and group facilitator. She believes deeply in cultivating a culture of hope\, healing\, and compassion for all. She was the first “peer/consumer” to be hired in the state of Wisconsin to work in a correctional facility. Ms. Oman uses humor and compassion to connect with her audience. She brings a unique perspective based on her own personal and professional experiences. \nPaula Buege is a fierce advocate for rights and dignity for people to make their own decisions. Currently she works directly with individuals and families who have children experiencing social/emotional/mental health and substance use challenges. DESCRIPTION:Learn holistic principles and practices that support the recovery journey. Explore healing arts practices like reiki\, tai chi\, shiatsu\, yoga\, pranayama\, meditation\, and more. Gain a basic understanding of holistic recovery through ancestral\, yogic\, and Asian healing arts frameworks. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nLearn the basics of science of yogic\, energy and ancestral practices.\nUnderstand the philosophical principles of holistic recovery.\nUnderstand how to incorporate yogic science\, energy healing\, and ancestral wisdoms into your recovery journey.\nUnderstand how to support others to incorporate holistic practices in their recovery.\n\n*If you have any concerns what will be shared or practiced here may conflict with your religious beliefs\, please consider not attending this offering. Full participation is required for credit for this offering. \nPresented by: \nRodasi Campbell\, CPRC\, RCPF\, ERYT\, is a woman on the path of discovery in recovery from substances\, mental health\, relationships\, and the mind. She has an extensive background in spirituality and health including yogic science\, women’s spirituality and alternative and earth-based spiritualities.
