SUMMARY:Maryville- Invisible Wounds of Trauma
DESCRIPTION:Invisible Wounds: Understanding Trauma Beyond What the Eye Can See is a comprehensive training that explores how trauma often manifests internally through emotional\, psychological\, and physiological changes rather than visible injury. This workshop equips participants with a deeper understanding of hidden trauma responses across diverse populations and provides practical strategies for supportive\, trauma-informed engagement that honor each person’s background\, lived experience\, and community context. \nBy the end of this training\, you should: \n\nBe able to identify the concept of “invisible wounds” and describe how trauma can manifest emotionally\, psychologically\, and physically without visible injury.\nUnderstand the hidden impact of trauma\, including how chronic stress and traumatic experiences affect the brain\, body\, and behavior.\nRecognize common barriers that prevent individuals\, especially men and marginalized populations\, from disclosing invisible trauma and seeking support.\nBe prepared to apply trauma-informed principles to support individuals with invisible wounds through validation\, safety-building\, and engagement that respect the person’s background\, identity\, and community experience.\n\nAbout the Trainer: \nDr. Kevin Scott is an honorably discharged decorated Marine Veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
