DESCRIPTION:Emotional CPR (eCPR) is a public health educational program designed to teach people to assist others through an emotional crisis in three simple steps: Connecting\, Empowering and Revitalizing. \nEmotional CPR (eCPR) is based on the principles shared by several support approaches: \n\nTrauma-informed care.\nCounseling after disasters.\nPeer support.\nEmotional intelligence.\nSuicide prevention.\nCultural attunement.\n\nParticipants will learn to: \n\nAssist individuals in transforming anger and rage into passion and strength.\nInspire motivation and change.\nHelp others tap into their courage and power.\nReframe crisis as opportunity.\nEncourage the people they serve to take steps in the direction of their dreams.\nLearn the importance of taking care of themselves so that they can support others.\nFacilitate the other persons access to inner wisdom.\n\nWho Can Attend: \nMDDHS Certified Peer Support Specialists\nMDDHS Certified Peer Recovery Coaches \nTrainers:\nCarolyn Pifer\, CPSS\,\nBraunwynn Franklin\, CPSS\nBecky Cronin\, CPSS\n*Trainers may be subject to change* \nEligible for 13 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. \nRegistration for this event will end at 11:59 p.m. on May 12\, 2025. \nRegistration: Please register below (on this site) using a credit or debit card\, which is the quickest way to confirm your attendance. \nONLY if you need to pay by check\, please complete this form (click here) and email it to: registration@mipeers.org. DESCRIPTION:“Mindful eating is about awareness.\nWhen you eat mindfully\, you slow down\,\npay attention to the food you’re eating\,\nand savor every bite.”\nSusan Albers \nIf you are ready to let go of endless dieting and self-judgement\, Mindful & Intuitive Eating will teach you to tap into your inherent wisdom to create a healthier relationship with food and your body. Rediscover the joy of food and eating as you learn to respect your body and improve your wellbeing. \nThrough mindfulness meditation and yoga\, you’ll learn to listen to the guidance of your body. This class is a non-diet approach that advocates non-judgment and self-compassion. Students re-learn to use intuitive cues to guide when and what to eat. \nYou will learn:\n• How to meet yourself with compassion and curiosity.\n• How to motivate yourself with kindness instead of criticism.\n• The basics of mindful eating.\n• Mindful eating\, sitting meditation\, body scan\, and gentle yoga practices.\n• How to work with thoughts and emotions that trigger mindless eating. \nAccording to peer reviewed research\, regular mindfulness practice:\n• Reduce stress\, anxiety\, and depression.\n• Improves sleep\, focus\, and attention.\n• Reduce symptoms of chronic illness and pain.\n• Enhances ability to experience joy and contentment.\n• Increases confidence and self-acceptance. \nWhat’s Included:\n• Mindful & Intuitive Eating participant handbook.\n• Mindfulness and self-kindness audio practices.\n• Gentle mindful movement videos. \nCarol Hendershot\nCertified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Instructor\nCo-Founder\, Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness \nCarol has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2008 and mindful self-compassion classes since 2014. She has led hundreds of students through these programs.
