SUMMARY:Northern Michigan Summit- Meditation for Peers
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to meditate and how to share meditation with those you serve. This training will provide you with self-care tools to develop or deepen your own meditation practice\, learning to be more present\, understanding the science behind the practice of meditation\, and learning introductory techniques and principles for sharing meditation with those you serve. Fundamental to healing\, mental health\, physical health and effectiveness in life\, meditation is the most effective tool in your tool kit. Debunk\, demystify\, simplify\, and gain confidence in your own practice and in sharing this priceless tool with others. \nMeditation Outcomes: \n\nGaining understanding of meditation fundamentals.\nOpportunity to practice meditation – incorporating at least two different techniques learned during the training. Participants will recognize the importance of self-care and mindfulness practices for themselves as peers\, promoting personal well-being.\nLearn tools to integrate meditation and mindfulness into recovery and daily life.\nDiscuss ethical considerations when sharing meditation practices\, including the importance of cultural sensitivity and personal boundaries.\nDevelop the skills to lead guided meditation sessions for individuals and groups\, creating a calming and supportive atmosphere for meditation. Participants will identify and adapt meditation techniques to meet the diverse needs of individuals in recovery\, considering factors like varying levels of experience and personal preferences.\nExplore the role of group meditation in building community and support networks for individuals in recovery.\n\nBy achieving these learning outcomes\, peers will be better equipped to effectively share meditation practices\, enhancing the recovery journey for those they support. \nPresented by: \nRodasi Campbell\, CPRC\, RCPF\, ERYT\, is a woman on the path of discovery in recovery from substances\, mental health\, relationships\, and the mind. She has an extensive background in spirituality & health including yogic science\, women’s spirituality and alternative and earth-based spiritualities. Rodasi is a mom\, an author\, and Peer Recovery Coach Trainer for MDHHS. \nEligible for 6.5 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. \nRegistration for this event will end at 11:59 pm on April 27\, 2025. \nRegistration: Please register below (on this site) using a credit or debit card\, which is the quickest way to confirm your attendance. \nONLY if you need to pay by check\, please complete this form (click here) and email it to: registration@mipeers.org. Have you had trouble “getting over” a loss? Everyone has experienced loss of one kind or another. Some experience the loss of a job\, a relationship\, or even the loss of expectations. This list of losses could go on. If you have experienced any loss\, especially if you are stuck in your grief\, this training will help you learn how to process your own grief. This will help you in your own recovery and help you be able to help those you work with at an even higher level. And that would be helpful to you\, wouldn’t it? \nIn This Training You Will: \n\nLearn how to recognize and express your losses.\nSee your way through your grief. (It’s probably different than you expect.)\nHear three goals of processing your grief.\nFind hope in your ability to grieve more effectively.\nThink about your grief differently.\nExperience ways to truly process your own grief.\n\nAbout the Trainer:\nChuck Hendrix is a Certified Peer Support Specialist\, Certified Life Coach\, and NLP Practitioner\, and a Board-Certified Hypnotherapist.
