DESCRIPTION:Moral injury is deeply psychological and emotional\, often leading to guilt\, shame\, and long-term distress. It can be especially painful when no legal consequences exist\, yet a person struggles with their own internal moral code. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDefine Moral Injury.\nIdentify causes of Moral Injury.\nRecognize the psychological and emotional impact.\nDiscus strategies for recognizing and addressing Moral Injury.\nExamine approaches to prevent and heal from Moral Injury.\n\nAbout the Trainer: \nDr. Kevin Scott is an honorably discharged decorated Marine Veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Academically\, he has a Bachelor of Science (Magna Cum Laude) and a Master of Science both in the discipline of Criminal Justice from North Carolina Central University\, in Durham\, NC. In addition\, he earned a doctorate in Community Counseling and Care specializing in Traumatology from Liberty University in Lynchburg\, Virginia. He also holds national memberships and state certifications in a myriad of mental health spaces including Harvard’s T. H. Chan School of Public Health Executive Leadership Development\, National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI)\, National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NACDP)\, Commission on Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP)\, and Commission on Correctional Healthcare Professional-Mental Health (CCHP-MH). \nEligible for 6.5 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. \nRegistration for this event will end at 11:59 pm on April 28\, 2025. \nRegistration: Please register below (on this site) using a credit or debit card\, which is the quickest way to confirm your attendance. \nONLY if you need to pay by check\, please complete this form (click here) and email it to: registration@mipeers.org.
