SUMMARY:Building Stress Resilience using Mindfulness: Full Day Training for Peers in Crisis Settings
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness is a unique way of paying attention that enhances well-being and helps us cope with the struggles of everyday life. In this class\, you will learn what mindfulness is\, what science has to say about its benefits\, and how it can help you deal with the stress of everyday life. You will experience formal mindfulness practices that train your mind for greater focus and clarity and informal practices to integrate into your day to enhance your ability to remain calm\, curious\, and kind. \nYou will learn:  \n\nSkills to shift from reacting to responding to stress.\nThe research that supports mindfulness as a tool to reduce stress.\nWhat mindfulness is and how it can benefit you.\nHow to work with difficult thoughts and emotions.\nMindful movement and Meditation practices.\n\nScientific research has consistently demonstrated that mindfulness: \n\nReduces stress\, anxiety\, and depression.\nImproves sleep.\nReduces symptoms of chronic illness.\nImproves confidence and self-acceptance.\n\nHow to prepare:  \n\nWear loose comfortable clothing.\nHave a water bottle and snacks available.\nArrange to keep technology to a minimum.\nThere will be a 60-Minute lunch break and two 15-Minute Breaks.\nSuspend judgment and meet the day with curiosity.\n\nWhat’s Included: \n\nMindfulness Participant Handbook.\nLinks to audio and video practices.\n\nAbout the Trainer: \nCarol Hendershot\, Exp RYT 500 Yoga Instructor\nCertified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Instructor\nCo-Founder\, Grand Rapids Center for Mindfulness \nCarol has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) since 2008 and Mindful Self-Compassion classes since 2014. She has led hundreds of students through these programs. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be allowed to attend as part of the CE requirements. Breaks are built into the training schedule.
