DESCRIPTION:Training Objectives: \n\nDefine trauma\, its effects on us and others.\nUnderstand how our own trauma experiences influence our support responses.\nSelf-assess our level of risk for compassion fatigue\, burnout\, and secondary traumatic stress.\nDevelop strategies that will serve as protective factors when supporting others.\nLearn to recognize re-traumatization.\nInteract in ways that minimize re-traumatization.\nDiscover how to support post-traumatic growth.\nIntegrate knowledge about trauma into peer support practices.\n\nAbout the Trainer: Trenda Hedges\, CRSS\, CPRS\, Peer Power \nTrenda Hedges believes in the power of lived experience.  As the CEO of Peer Power\, she envisions individual lives\, communities\, and entire systems positively impacted because of the power of lived experience through peer support. In addition to being a person in long term recovery\, Trenda is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS)\, Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)\, and Advance Level WRAP® Facilitator. \nEligible for 6.5 MDHHS Continuing Education credits. \nRegistration for this event will end at 11:59 p.m. on January 28\, 2025. \nRegistration: Please register below (on this site) using a credit or debit card\, which is the quickest way to confirm your attendance. \nONLY if you need to pay by check\, please complete this form (click here) and email it to: registration@mipeers.org. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be allowed to attend as part of the CE requirements. Breaks are built into the training schedule.
